Seasonal Depression – Erica Whitman

Seasonal Depression – Erica Whitman

Seasonal Depression is a very real thing. And most people experience this during the winter months. It is commonly thought that the lack of Vitamin D getting absorbed into body may be the cause of this.

Others say our hormones change and produce differently each season to support our bodies through the change in temperatures etc. Or there are many people already dealing with depression, that may find it just becomes heightened during the winter months.

Whatever the reason, it is a terribly lonely and hard state for people to go through. The reason I am touching on this topic for my blog today is because I feel Massage Therapy is a great aide in dealing with depression.

Firstly- for someone, being able to take the step to do a little something to pamper themselves, can in itself give them a sense of accomplishment and betterment.

Secondly – You are allowing yourself to be vulnerable which is hard in a state of depression. During a massage session, people can experience emotional releases that have been built up inside. They may also feel comforted to just be in a room with someone who is there solely to provide care, and to make them feel better.

Thirdly- Massages are a proven to release feel good endorphins. So when you get the massage even your body thanks you by releasing these endorphins and making you feel relaxed and better.

So remember, if you are having a hard time, and just need that little something to give you a pick me up…  Adica Massage Clinic is here for you. We will do our best to make you feel comfortable and relaxed, and to have you leaving here feeling a little happier. We offer hot stone massage, therapeutic massage, couple’s massage and more!
