Single-session Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) provides mental health support in one-off sessions. This is very helpful for people who have limited funding, or who are experiencing a crisis (grief, major life change, sudden diagnosis, etc.). Single-session therapy allows clients to work on their root problem within one 60-minute session and avoids the need for extensive assessment, triage, or spending many sessions giving an overview of an issue. SFT is particularly helpful for clients who have experienced trauma - the feeling that the world is not safe after a traumatic incident.
Our Registered Social Worker (RSW) Brittany Cousins is able to provide Single-session SFT. In the event that the client finds this useful, she is also able to transfer clients to a recurring, regular therapy schedule. Brittany is able to see clients for standard individual therapy as well, and is covered under insurance plans that list RSW in their coverage.
